Painting and puppies!
Busy summer! Kids abound. Business is on-going. Plus, Joe and Heather’s house project is huge! I try to go over and dedicate as many hours as I can. Wish I could go every day. But I’ve only been able to pop in several times a week. Not as much as I like.
It must feel like an overwhelming project to them. They have 1600 square feet to paint, including the ceilings. We’re almost done with the ceilings. Although, they have had lots of help from their friends and her parents, too, the work just seems to grow! If you’ve ever remodeled or painted, you know exactly what I mean. I’ve done alot of it over the years. But that doesn’t make it any easier!
Rolling paint onto the ceiling! OK. You use muscles you didn’t know you had. Neck hurts too! I resorted to be an expert at cutting in around the edges. And do less rolling! But that means getting over my fear of heights, climbing the ladder to the raised ceiling. Plus, we had a 5.4 earthquake the other day. I wasn’t on the ladder. But everytime I go up there, I try not to think about it! EEk!
Painting always takes longer than you think. Yesterday, I only had a 4 hour window of time to work. Heather and I completed the whole living room ceiling. Took turns rolling, until I became the master cutter on my high ladder. We had primed the ceiling the day before. So now the ceiling was completely done. Beautiful! We had almost 3 hours left. We were cranking! We decided we could get the color on the walls and “finish” the living room. She would do the baseboards after I left. Well, that didn’t happen, even with Greg and Joe there. There was so much prep. My cutting in around windows and baseboards took forever. And I didn’t even hardly get the tip of the iceberg on it. When I left, Heather had just started rolling the walls, because all the putty prep, scraping sanding, etc. takes forever!
This morning, Greg and I are trying to plow through some office work, and bring Christian over too for an extra pair of hands! We’ve been leaving him home with Marley (the puppy). But Heather feels we can bring Marley and let him play with Toby (their great dane pup). We plan to spend the day into the night, and really crank it out! Wonder what color the two puppies will be by the end of the day?
Oh, my aching back and neck!
